BEFORE WE TALK

Your questions are welcome. Clarity starts here.

A little preparation can make the first conversation more useful. These answers explain how to approach an inquiry; they are not advice for a particular legal matter.

Common questions

Questions before we talk?

How do I contact Sean?

Call Sean at (858) 775-4175 or email Email Sean. Give him a short description of the issue, the parties involved and any deadlines. Please wait for his guidance before sharing confidential details.

What should I have ready?

Give Sean a short timeline, the names of the people or organizations involved and any upcoming dates. Keep relevant documents available, and ask Sean how to share them once he has reviewed whether he can assist.

Does a phone call or message make Sean my lawyer?

No. Representation begins only when the firm agrees to accept the matter. A call, email or website submission by itself does not create an attorney–client relationship.

What kinds of matters does Sean handle?

The practice includes business and contract matters, civil litigation, personal injury, estate planning, probate and landlord–tenant matters. Each inquiry is evaluated for fit, availability and conflicts.

Does Sean have trial experience?

Yes. His experience includes representing clients in California Superior Court litigation, including probate trials. No particular outcome or level of recovery is guaranteed.

Where does Sean serve clients?

Sean is based in San Diego and welcomes inquiries from throughout San Diego County and elsewhere in California. The location and requirements of the matter are part of the initial evaluation.

What happens if a deadline is close?

Call Sean at (858) 775-4175 and tell him about the deadline immediately. Do not rely on a pending inquiry to protect it. Contacting Sean does not extend a deadline or confirm that he is taking action on your behalf.

Can I send medical records, financial documents or case files?

Wait for Sean’s instructions before sending sensitive documents. In your initial inquiry, share only the most important general information so he can review whether he can help.

Are results guaranteed?

No. Legal outcomes depend on the facts, applicable law and other circumstances. Experience and preparation do not guarantee a particular result.

Has Sean worked on appeals?

Yes. Sean’s experience includes work on appeals as well as civil trials and probate matters. Contact Sean to discuss the court, the decision and any deadlines; acceptance of an appellate matter must be evaluated separately.

How should I describe my legal issue?

Start with what happened, who is involved and what you hope to resolve. Sean can help identify which questions need a closer look; you do not need to know the legal terminology.

Should I include the other party’s name?

Yes. Give Sean the names of the people and organizations involved so he can begin reviewing potential conflicts. Keep the rest of your initial message brief.

Can I ask about a contract before signing it?

Yes. Tell Sean what the agreement concerns and when you are expected to sign. Ask him whether he can review it within your timeframe before sending the document.

What if I have already received court papers?

Call (858) 775-4175 and explain what you received and any dates shown. Ask Sean how to provide the papers securely. Do not assume he is responding on your behalf until representation is agreed.

Can I contact Sean on behalf of a family member?

Explain who needs assistance and your relationship to that person. Sean will discuss who the client would be and who needs to participate before proceeding.

Can Sean help my business as well as me personally?

Describe both needs when you contact Sean. He will evaluate the parties, potential conflicts and proposed scope before discussing whether he can assist with either or both matters.

How will I know what the work will cost?

Ask Sean about the proposed scope, fee arrangement and any anticipated expenses. Review the engagement terms with him before agreeing to the work.

What if my needs change during the matter?

Talk with Sean about the new issue. He will discuss whether it changes the scope of work and how any additional work, fees and communication would be handled.

Can I arrange a meeting before visiting?

Please contact Sean first to discuss availability and meeting arrangements. Call (858) 775-4175 rather than arriving without a confirmed appointment.

What should I do after submitting an inquiry?

Keep relevant information available and wait for Sean’s response before sending sensitive documents. If a deadline is approaching, call the office and explain it; a submitted inquiry does not confirm representation.
